The fifth exhibition of project "GOLD.LIGHT.COLOR.LINE" takes place in The Janis Rozentals and Rudolfs Blaumanis Museum in Riga.  In this project, we have united five artists - painters, graphic artists and icon painter.

Even today, the icon painter who works side by side and shows his work outside the church is a member of the family of artists of the era. We all speak a single informative code language in our art. In addition, when watching the paintings, the viewer also reads what is understandable and recognizable in the icon. On the contrary, the connoisseur of the icon reveals that even with the tools of art language it is possible to talk not only about the mundane, but also about the timeless.

About LIGHT

Painter Marta Jurjane -

"I paint light, both what is visible to the eye, which gives joy to a dark day that highlights colors and plays with shadow patterns on the wall, and the invisible, divine light that illuminates the heart and life, giving it meaning and fulfillment.

My paintings reflect on the various reflections and glitters of light that leave imprints on the viewer's personality - just as light creates an image on a film - and somewhat transforms the viewer. The light reveals the colors that, bright and clear, I use in my paintings, studying all kinds of light vibrations: melancholic winter light, holiday lazy light, spring alarm, summer reflections in the city ...

Games of light and shadow continue to inspire. But light can also be revealed where it does not seem to exist at all.”

 Icon painter Evija Rudzite -

"God is Light - incomprehensible to our eyes and mind. The light of God fills and pervades the created world and creation with divine radiance. Christ is the Light of the world, and His message is light. The closer we are to God, the brighter this light is in us and around us. Divine light is life and truth. The faces of the saints radiate light, revealing their enlightened, transformed condition. The very process of painting the icon is coming from darkness to light.”
