This icon was inspired by the icons of Our Lady of Georgia. The composition and drawing are based on 11th-12th century icon. (Svanetia, Georgia) Theotoko's white garments are also found in Georgian icons.
Our Lady, in her white dress, is revealed here as a symbol of Paradise. Christ wears the royal purple and the white of the imminent Passion, interwoven with golden lines. The golden line's ornament - assist reveals Christ as the Light of the world. The blue background represents divine contemplation, wisdom, the transcendent. So, contemplating, we can say that through Our Most Holy Mother of God the divine Light entered the world and thanks to Her and the Sacrifice of Christ the way to Paradise is possible for us.
